Collective Soul bassist and Georgia Music Hall of Fame inductee Will Turpin sat down for an extended interview last Monday afternoon for this column. While Collective Soul is on a hiatus of sorts, Turpin definitely hasn’t abandoned music.

Indeed, he released his first solo project earlier this month called The Lighthouse, a 5-song EP reflecting the songwriter’s ear for melody. The pop tunes are custom made for radio and were largely written by Turpin on the piano (he took piano lessons when he was eight years old).

Turpin is a reserved, humble, and friendly guy who loves making music with his friends and spending time with his family. The singer is currently preparing for an intriguing ‘Halloweenesque’ gig on October 29 in Locust Grove, Georgia, featuring his solo band, Will and The Way. Details can be found here.
